Ballarat secures WNBL pre-season game between Bendigo Spirit and Southside Flyers

Basketball Ballarat are excited to welcome and host the Bendigo Spirit in their pre-season practice match against the Southside Flyers at Selkirk Stadium on Saturday October 14th. The game will see the return of two fan-favourites in current Ballarat Miners NBL1 star, and reigning MVP, Abbey Wehrung along with past player, Alicia Froling.

General Manager of Operations at Bendigo Spirit, David Ingham said “Our players and coaches are thrilled about our upcoming pre-season game, and we couldn’t be more excited to host this game in Ballarat. The fact that Abbey Wehrung is a local player makes it even more special for us, as we take pride in being the team that represents all of Victoria Country.”

“Ballarat offers first-class facilities, and we’re well aware of its passionate and very knowledgeable fan base. We’re confident that they’ll be out in full force, supporting us and the Flyers as we showcase some top-notch basketball.”

Basketball Ballarat CEO Nev Ivey states “We are excited to again host some of Australia’s best female athletes here in Ballarat for a pre-season WNBL match”.

“Selkirk Stadium has proven to the serve very well the needs of community sport with over 650 teams in the domestic competition, but the show court, with its 3,000 seat capacity provides us the ability to hold national and international sporting events such as the WNBL.”

With the calibre of athletes playing, we suspect that tickets will sell fast.
