BSEC Renamed Selkirk Stadium

Basketball Ballarat is proud to announce that Ballarat Sports Events Centre will be renamed Selkirk Stadium for the next 5 years.

Selkirk has been a long-time supporter of Basketball Ballarat having formally been the naming rights sponsor of our Elite Women’s Team and now being one of our four Principal Partners of the Ballarat Miners, which spans across our Juniors and Senior Elite Teams.

“Ballarat Basketball are an integral part of Ballarat and our sporting culture which Selkirk have been very pleased to support over the years, and it’s fantastic to extend on our commitment to the community “ said Selkirk Managing Director Simon Meadows

Basketball Ballarat CEO Neville Ivey said “we are excited to have Selkirk, such an iconic Ballarat brand, secure naming rights for the Stadium. Selkirk Stadium with Stage 2 almost complete will host over 500 Basketball and Netball community teams each week along with and our elite Senior and Junior programs”

“It is important for us to also acknowledge the support from our other sponsorship partners, local, state and federal governments who have contributed to the creation of the strong basketball and netball community and the wonderful new stadium as it’s a team effort” added Ivey

“The new Selkirk Stadium is fantastic, it is great to be able to support the growth of such a wonderful facility, and the growth of Ballarat’s sporting and entertainment precinct” said Selkirk Chairman, Ron Selkirk.

Selkirk Stadium is the largest indoor sporting stadium in Western Victoria thanks to funding from all three levels of Government. With stage 2 nearing completion Selkirk Stadium will be fully equipped with:

  • 8 Indoor Community Courts
  • 3 Outdoor 3×3 Basketball Courts
  • 3000 seat Show Court
  • Strength and Conditioning Gym (RADcentre)
  • 3 Separate Learning Spaces
  • Lounge and Function space for 150

Selkirk Stadium is kicking off with a bang with the following events already locked in for 2022:

  • 6 x WNBL Games (January)
  • 3×3 National Hustle (January)
  • Basketball Ballarat Senior Tournament (March)
  • Basketball Victoria Junior Country Championships U18 and U16 Division 3 and 4 (March)
  • Basketball Australia U/18 National Championships (April)
  • Basketball Victoria Junior Country Championships U12 (April)
  • NBL1 South Season (April – August)
  • Basketball Ballarat Junior Tournament (June)
